The Bible tells us many times over to "fear not", yet in all the circumstances of life, fear comes to us in various forms.  We can be fearful, worried, anxious, troubled, apprehensive, alarmed, full of dread, frightened, intimidated, or horrified because of some of the situations that come our way. Fear comes into our minds to try and convince us that the outcome of our situation will be negative. The imagination takes our fearful thoughts and develops them into full blown disasters. We imagine the worst.  God does not want us to think that way. God wants to give us victory in every area of life, and the way we think directs the outcome.  If we think defeat, we will be defeated.  If we think we can be victorious, we can be victorious through Christ.  He will make a way for us. Troubles may come to us, but we can live in peace in spite of them.  How can we do this?  The Bible gives the answer.

1)  No matter what comes against us, God is there to help us.

Isaiah 41:10  "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

2)  Choose not to fear.

If God tells us not to fear, it means we have the ability to control whether or not we are afraid. God says, "Do not fear." therefore I say, "I will not fear." I am taking control of the situation.

Psalm 23:4 " I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;"

3)  Trust God.

Lean on Him.  Give Him your cares and troubles. Believe that He cares and will help you.

Joshua 1:9 ". . .Be strong and of a good courage; [absence of fear in the face of trouble or danger] Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."

4)   Confess your faith in God and the victory

I will not be afraid.  God is with me.  He cares for me and will make a way for me.  I choose to trust in God.

Confess Proverbs 3:5-6: [I] trust in the Lord with all [my] heart; and lean not on [my] own understanding.  In all [my] ways [I] acknowledge him, and he shall direct [my] paths.

Overcoming fear is the first step in getting your faith to work.  Where there is fear, there is no faith.  Learn to conquer your fears and watch your faith rise up!
